Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Well I will admit time for blogging has gotten away from me over the last month. It has been very busy for me as I'm sure it has been for you as well. I hope to pick it back up after the beginning of the year though.

This is just a quick post to say I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! Our family had a great day together...and we got a few good pictures too...





We will be getting together again for new years and before that even...my birthday! Another year has flown right by. Quite a life changing year for me I would say in many ways-lots of ups and downs. But I have learned a lot from it and I think I can say I am better for it. I'm looking forward to the new year and it will be interesting to see what God has in store.



On another note, I have several friends expecting babies within the next month (some even days). I can't wait to meet the new additions to their families. (One of them even writes about his journey to fatherhood on his blog www.fathertrek.com - he is a very funny guy so if you need a laugh you should check it out). I am excited for them all to begin their new life with their newest family members.

When Riata was born April 23, 2010 it changed all our lives. She was sitting next to me yesterday holding my finger. I looked down at her little hand wrapped around my finger and it reminded me of the even tiny-er hand that held my finger the day she was born - she is growing up so fast!



I wasn't sure I would ever be an aunt and now in a short span I have 4 small nieces and nephews that are a regular part of our lives. Raising kids is a lot of hard work - even for the Aunt sometimes but I'm glad I've been a part of their lives this year.


So I hope you all had a great Christmas and that you will be able to spend some more time with family and friends bringing in the new year.

Today my little brother, David, would have turned 24 years old. It's hard to believe it's been almost 10 years now since he went home to be with Jesus. Welcome Home

Well just one week from right now, I will be aboard a plane somewhere between here and Kenya ! I can't believe that the time has actually come! And boy did it come fast!! No, I am not packed... But the suitcases are here... Waiting... The laundry is being done... And the living room, kitchen and bathrooms are... clean!! How does that help? Well, I always enjoy coming home to a clean house even if I’m just gone a few days. So this will be even better!! When I got home from work last night, I put my key in the lock and walked into my house expecting to find it as I left it that morning: Dark, unvacuumed, pile of work sweaters in the recliner, basket of unfolded clothes on ottoman, mail on the tv tray, and several stray pairs of shoes waiting for me to trip over them. As Promised

What?!? Another post?! So soon? Two days in a row?! I know... it's shocking. But here it is! Just a few photos of the bracelets that we've made so far. They are not all strung together yet with clasps but I think you'll get the idea. Notice the lovely paper clip and the Post-it's from the first photo? (I actually just looked at them to check on how to spell Post it..and they aren't even real Post Its!! They're "Stickies"! Did I get it right yet?) And that this tray is sitting on a stack of papers on my desk at work? Nice right? Very warm and earthy. I like these! Good job Shauna!! We have really enjoyed working on them a lot. I called Shauna a monster yesterday but last night I was the one up until 2! The most acceptable explanation (that I'll go into right now) is that we are both aware that it's only 14 days...14 DAYS!!! that's TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY... until I leave so we would like to get it all done and not be doing
