He's Still On Time

I haven't talked about this much, but I've decided to bring you up to speed. I've been looking for a new job in the area I am relocating to. I have been commuting back and forth on the weekends for the last 4 months. And what a WONDERFUL time it has been! It is almost exactly a 3 hour trip one way so I have some time to think between here and there.

Sometimes I...

a.) listen to music
b.) listen to an audio book
c.) listen to the preaching cd's from the Wednesday night services I miss there
d.) talk to God
e.) analyze
f.) plan
g.) practice singing for an upcoming special (yes I'm one of those people singing to the top of their voice by their self in the car and doesn't care who is watching)
h.) call people and catch up
i.) and sometimes I do all of the above

...not at the same time. But you get the idea.

This week on the way home, I was thinking over the weekend and the week to come. There is a ladies meeting this Tuesday that I would really like to go to, but because I have to be back at work 3 hours away that is not possible until I get moved. But on Sunday, several ladies came up to me and said "oh i wish you could come to the ladies meeting on Tuesday!" Which was very nice and I wish I could too!! But Alas....I can not. I also have a couple of friends there who have several children and they tell me that the kids ask if I've found a job yet and they pray for me often. Between some other things that happened, the ladies meeting comments and the sweet praying children, I was struggling to keep my composure after church on Sunday night. I was praying that I could keep it all in til I at least got away from people. It's always better if you can go home and have a little cry when no one is around to think you are crazy! Are you with me ladies? But it was rough. I'd like to say I made it...but I'd be lying. I did ok. But not as well as I'd like.

So I was thinking about that and about the happenings of the last 4 months...the things I've learned and the opportunities I've had because I didn't move right away. I am not going to list them all out - mostly because it would take a long time to write it and a long time for you to read it. Just trust me there is some good things coming out of it. Even though sometimes I wonder - What's the hold up? You know when we have a timetable...and God has a timetable? Guess who wins... bingo. So I was thinking of all that and one of my favorite songs came on...

He’s Still On Time

The news came to Jesus please come fast
Lazarus is sick and without your help he will not last
Mary and Martha watched their brother die
They waited for Jesus he did not come
And they wondered why

The death watch was over buried four days
Somebody said he’ll soon be here the Lord’s on his way
Martha ran to him and then she cried
Lord if you had been here you could have healed him
He’d still be alive

But your four days late and all hope is gone
Lord we don’t understand why you’ve waited so long
But his way is God’s way it’s not yours or mine
And isn’t it great when he’s four days late he’s still on time

Jesus said Martha show me the grave
But she said Lord you don’t understand
He’s been there four days
The grave stone was rolled back
Then Jesus cried Lazarus Come Forth
Then somebody said he’s alive!
He’s alive!!

You may fighting a battle of fear you’ve cried to the Lord
I need you now but he has not appeared
Don’t be discouraged cause he’s still the same
They’ll soon be here he’ll roll back the stone
And call out your name

When he’s four days late and all hope is gone
Lord we don’t understand why you’ve waited so long
But his way is God’s way it’s not yours or mine.
And isn’t it great when he’s four days late he’s still on time
Yes God is great when he’s four days late he’s still on time
He’s still on time

I have been telling myself that a lot and encouraging myself in the Lord (you might say) by looking for the things to be thankful for and making list in my mind of the good things God is doing through this transitional time. So this song was a "timely" reminder..ha..get it? :) And I sang "Yes God is great when He's four MONTHS late, He's still on time!"

I know God has just the right one for me, in the right place, with the right people... in His time. That being said I appreciate the investment that even these children are making by praying for me and I know many others are too. Thank you more than I can say.

Love,
Sarah

  1. Glad you got home safely. Enjoyed our late night talk! Keep waiting on Him--He has you exactly where He wants you, for now. And those hours you are spending on the road, are hours God may be using to condition you for backcountry travels in a foreign land. Who knows what God will do?
